Henry D. Stouffer, a prominent businessman in North Baltimore, purchased land from Jacob Dirk. In 1874 – 1875, Henry had the first brick home in North Baltimore built by John Shatzel. Mr. Shatzel was the builder of North Baltimore's earliest brick building. The Stouffers continued to live in the home until 1931, when Alice Foltz Stouffer’s, Henry’s second wife, estate sold the home to Carl Foltz. Carol Foltz was Alice’s son and Henry’s stepson.

In 1945, Carl sold the house to Dr. Howard and Dorothy Wetzell. Dr. Wetzell operated a chiropractic practice from his home until he died in 1981. Mrs. Wetzell then transferred her husband’s practice to Dr. Kevin King. Dr. King and his wife, Sue, purchased the house in 1991. Dr. King remains the owner of the house and has continued its restoration.

In 2024, Dr. Henry Matthes IV, a North Baltimore High School graduate, began to operate Matthes Chiropractic from this location.
