Back of Wolfe Home 2025
This home was built in 1877 for Dr. Avery McLaran, one of North Baltimore’s first physicians. The McLaran family lived in the house until 1916, when it was sold by their daughter, Mary Lemon, to Len L. and Dolly Trout. The Trouts had recently sold their home at 515 N. Main St., which is currently the Smith-Crates Funeral Home (also featured on this tour).
Len L. Trout Sr sold the home to his son Len Jr. in 1946. Len Jr. lived in the house until 1959, raising two boys while there.
It was then sold to Ralph Wolfe Sr and his wife, Mary, for $13,500. Ralph Sr. purchased the home at the prodding of his wife, Mary, who passed by the home and admired it every day. Upon Mary's passing, Dr. Ralph Wolfe, their son, took ownership and remains the owner today. Dr. Wolfe has done extensive remodeling to the home. He has also entertained some of Hollywood's A-listers in his home. This house is also famous throughout Northwest Ohio for its beautiful Christmas decorations.
