This home was built by John Bush, who sold it to John and Elizabeth Schatzel in 1876 for $1,100. The Schatzels then sold it to Wilson L. and Bertha Stouffer in 1900, who lived there until Wilson died in 1941. Wilson was the owner and operator of Stouffer Hardware store on the corner of Broadway and Main Street. Upon his death, Wilson left his entire estate to his wife, daughter Lenore, and 30+ individuals and organizations. His estate was estimated to be worth $30 million in today's money.  It is rumored that many individuals in his will were his female friends, as he had a reputation for being a ladies’ man.

Subsequent owners of the home were Bertha Stouffer, their daughter Lenore (Stouffer) Montgomery, and her granddaughter Lisette Sue Proudfoot Smith. Followed by Harold Legg and Robert Miller

In 1999, CJ and Theresa Cotterman purchased the home for their family and remain the owners today.
